Thank goodness it’s Friday. For those of us that have put a little of our blood, sweat, and tears, in the stock market or in mutual funds its been necessary to drink strong coffee over the past few months with the extreme roller coaster ride we have had in most of financial markets.
The good news is maybe we can all sleep a little better this weekend given the recent actions proposed by the federal government and the small rebound we have been seeing in the market. I for one am going to take some time on Sunday to increase my alcoholic intake a little while watching some football. I don’t even care who wins. Have a good weekend.
Pentagon 9/11 Memorial Dedicated in ‘Changed World’
By Al Pessin
Pentagon 11 September 2008
On the seventh anniversary of the September 11 attacks, thousands of people gathered outside the Pentagon as President Bush dedicated a memorial to the 184 people who died there. VOA’s Al Pessin attended the Pentagon ceremony.
When Sen. John McCain delivered the keynote address at our 2008 National Small Business Summit, he did much more than speak to the several hundred interested small business owners who attended. He brought the concerns of our voting bloc to the forefront of the presidential campaigns. In fact, both Sens. McCain and Barack Obama have spent time on the campaign trail specifically addressing the No. 1 issue among small businesses—healthcare. And it’s about time.
Recognizing that healthcare costs have become unmanageable for many small business owners and entrepreneurs, Sen. McCain remarked that, if elected, his administration would introduce healthcare reform that would provide hardworking Americans, like those working in small businesses, more options and expand portability of coverage.
After a rough and tumble week running your small business do you look and feel like the little guy on the left? Then ease into the weekend with this nice little escape from Tommy Emmanuel. He is really great. Have a great weekend!!
Hey we know it’s a work day but ever wake up to get ready for work with a full work load ahead, look in the mirror, and this is what you see?
Well maybe you just need to say to yourself it’s time for a little fun or at the very least a change in pace for a day. No doubt you’re saying he’s mad I just have too much on my plate to take any time for me right now. Well here is probably one of our most important tips for today.
Why not get some flowers and take your favorite significant other out for a spin in the car, a walk, picnic, or you know, anything else that will take your mind off the grind for awhile. Even a long lunch and a good movie might help get you to blow off some of the pressure.
As for me its a little time in the garden without the mobile phone or other work distractions along with a little wine and some daydreaming really does the trick.
What ever you do just remember that we can never be a success unless we take good care of our minds as well.
So our tip for the day is, if your brain is draining and your intellectual thermometer is getting ready to burst at the top, set a important business goal and bite the bullet and take some time to get back down to earth and you will enjoy and be more productive in your work efforts.
